The Wyvern and the Wolf is a grim-dark fantasy novel by Nicholas Snelling, originally released alongside Twelve Foot Ninja’s Vengeance album (2021). While the story began as an idea to expand the Twelve Foot Ninja mythos, Nick tumbled down a wild creative rabbit hole and ended up writing something completely unique—and genuinely awesome—in its own right.
 
At the time, we were contractually bound to keep it tied to the Twelve Foot Ninja universe, even though neither of us felt that truly fit the work. Now, with those constraints behind us, we can both call it what it always was: Nick’s story.
 
Set in a post-apocalyptic steampunk world, this literary-leaning fantasy throws you into a brutal landscape of ninjas, samurai, monstrous creatures, corrupted priests, and a crusty old hermit who lives in a tree. If you’re into layered, gritty storytelling with a cinematic edge, this one’s for you.
 
Nick plans to relaunch the book with a new subtitle and broader series direction, so this original edition is a true one-off. I’m proud to have played a small role in its origin—but everything beyond that is deservedly Nick’s.
